I know I’ve written and talked – a lot – about writing content for your own newsletter or blog.
But based on my own experience, I grant you that the writing pace is a serious commitment.
So what else can you do that is not as demanding?

Hey, what’s up! I’m Rod Burkert. And welcome to my Practice Development Corner, the place where business valuation professionals like you come to learn how to turn the practice they have into the practice they want.
It may surprise you to hear me say you don’t absolutely, positively need a newsletter or blog to be successful at content marketing for your BVFLS services. But of course, you don’t.
If you consider building brand awareness, creating Authority, and generating new business leads as “success,” then you don’t need an active newsletter or blog to reach those goals. Because you can get there – perhaps more slowly – by writing less frequently for other parties with ties to the audience you want to reach.
For example, I write six times a year for Hitchner’s Financial Valuation and Litigation Expert and NACVA’s Value Examiner. Publishing on these platforms lets me put my content in front of a large audience. That gets me links back to my website (earning me SEO juice) and creates opportunities for people to interact with me. Goals reached!
So what financial advisors, law firms, banks, trade associations, or industry organizations have a publishing platform that reaches your audience? Reach out to them. Offer to write a quarterly column about your practice area or industry niche and how it impacts their readers. My experience is that they will gratefully accept and publish your articles. And finding the time to write 4 times a year is obviously easier than finding the time to write weekly or monthly.
